I cancelled my afrihost service on the 25th and i was told that it's unfortunate but it's too late.
i agreed to pay for an extra month even though i will not use the SIM.

Now i been told i can not port my number?
can they decline my porting?
i don't mind losing my airtime/data i just want to move, surely they can't hold my number hostage?

i was thinking about getting another afrihost sim but i got better service from Axxess.

No they will have to port the number when ever you request it.

I have a customer who had Afrihost (cancelled months ago) on a pre-paid MTN SIM and every he requests a port to Cell C, it gets declined by MTN. I'm still waiting for this customer to come back as I told him to speak to MTN.

Probably something MTN are doing oblivious of the consequences! Like MTN's pre-paid promo SMS's at 3.45am!!

i am still not ported, and apparently there is nothing they can do about it?

Hi

As per our PM yesterday, we cannot port the number until the cancellation has taken affect.

I managed to port away from Afrihost in 1 day having overcome the standard Afrihost blah blah blah that it can't be done until cancellation is in effect. Note you will still need to pay for the 1-month notice.

The following is the USSD code if you are on the MTN network:
  1. Ensure you have the SIM of the number you want to port in the phone
  2. Dial *136*774*1#
  3. Select NO
  4. Confirmation will be received
It's the same instruction as the following except that you select NO instead of YES https://help.afrihost.com/topic/afrihost-mobile/how-to-give-consent-with-air-mobile

The grammar is a bit confusing but you need to read it as a message from MTN for it to make sense

Happy porting!
