I signed a VC contract today and got an SMS from MTN confirming the port.

The VC SIM isn't active yet though and SMSs are going to the MTN SIM.

How long till it switches over?

Up to 72 hours but usually within 6

Keep ur mtn sim card in, use it. You will notice that once you can't use that sim, then your Vodacom sim will be active.

The port process only runs from +- 6:30pm to midnight. Don't expect the port to complete before that.

If a port is requested before 3pm then you will be able to port same day. If a port is requested after 3pm the port most likely will only happen the following day @ 7pm

These are approximate times porting will happen.

Should have ported then already.

Oh well - another 24hr won't hurt. Plus it ensures that all the initial updates etc go over wifi.

When I requested Cell C to port my MTN number while taking out a contract with them in-store, I received the confirmation sms as I walked out ten minutes later. My Cell C sim seemed to be fully functional. I was impressed lol.
