Have an existing contract with Virgin which is due to end on the 19th of July.

Also have a contract with Cell C which started this month.

Need to port my number which I have with Virgin to Cell C once the contract ends on the 19th.

1. Do I initiate the port from Virgin or Cell C?
2. How and when do I go about doing this?
3. Will my existing number just replace the number I was given by Cell C?

You initiate from Cell C.
Have not ported onto an existing contract though so I can't comment on the rest. I ported over the weekend to a new contract - took 6 hours to happen.

Hi,

You need to do it through us and we will port in the number into your current cellc sim card, as soon as your contract is cancelled with v mobile you can let us know and we will assist.

Regards

Thanks for the response Cell C :)

According to VM, on the 19th I need to let them know that I will not be renewing my contract with them.

Do I let you guys know at that point that I want to port over or must I wait until the last day of the contract?

Can I keep in touch with you to make sure that the porting is successful? Just find it extremely frustrating to deal with call centres :(

I was on Vodacom with the contract ending on 19 May.
When the S4 was launched, I took out a contract at CellC Greenstone.
I delayed a bit, but yesterday AM got off my butt and went to Greenstone to do a port and number change as I wanted my Vodacom number on my new CellC contract. This was about 10H00. At 23H00 my cell was disconnected from Vodacom. Put the CellC SIM into my S4 and all was good.
Was a really simple process. And quick.

Good Day BANG_Mutha

As soon as the number is on pre-paid, let us know. We will port the number.

Regards

@Mike, thanks for the reassurance man :)

@Cell_C, so will VM automatically change my number to a prepaid number or will I have to request this?

With Vodacom I had to request it. Contract ended on 19 May and 31 May it auto switched to prepaid.
Probably the same with VM. Check with them.

When a contract is cancelled it automatically goes on pre-paid, best if you request it. *DM*

Ported to a Cell C contract yesterday from Vodacom (prepaid). Signed the contract at 4pm. By 7pm was fully ported. Unbelievable.

They are quick. I thought my port was fast but yours takes the crown.

I am so happy I did the port. I was skeptic at first because CellC don't get that many good comments around here, but in my area they are king.
My Vodacom would often drop out, internet connection would timeout, etc... Was painful. Since CellC, had no dropouts, connection is nice and fast, and voice call quality is good.

What really did it for me was when I dialed *101# to check my available balances. In all my years on Vodacom I never saw this.

Available SMS/MMS: 201
Available Data: 1964.22MB

Damn! Paying less than VC and got abundance. Very happy chappy this side.

Just make sure your network keeps ticking over.......all those that ported are supporting cellc, even with glitches now and then.....Don't let them regret it !

I am now at the "regretting I ported stage"

Glad to see that you are still alive Cell_C! With your silence on all the Cell C complaint threads, I was worried about you.:)

Just PM me for assistance. I'm at your service. *DM*

I ported some numbers over earlier this year, a lot has been ported back to Vodacom or MTN. Next week another batch of them get ported back.

It's expensive, but when I want to make a phone call or check mail I'd like to be able to do it. Cell C data and voice just doesn't work for me in Durban North.
