Positive or negative tax return

I've never had to pay in. Always got something out. I don't know why.

This year it was something like R3 500 :)

Got just over R1K this year but should get a very nice one next year :D

I paid in 3K! But that money was in my accounts for most of the year earning interest. SARS do not pay interest!

The last time i put in an objection and they did not sort it out until 7 months down the line. SARS was charging me interest. So they were demanding R2000 from me + R500 interest for the period they could not sort the problem out.
When i submitted my next tax return they played the outstanding amount plus interest against what was due to me.

In the end i got R68 in credit.

Think its a decent sum back this year, but it's because of a couple of RA's and Business Mileage. We'll see.

/heads off to SARS for update

How do SARS pay back so quickly? I submitted on Wednesday and was paid back this morning. DO they not check? Is that why tax fraud is so easy? I could have just punched in any amounts i wanted.

Pay in R16,800 :'(

their system is setup to check certain stuff, after certain amounts etc it will be audited etc

the only department of gauvament that works efficiently is the one that takes your money :p

efficiently when they want your money and it is automated yes, when they have to issue clearance certs, handle queries, handle disputes they are the most annoying department in existance get a different answer from each "consultant" that you speak to, have to spend the whole day waiting and waiting while they take tea coffee soda toilet tea tea lunch extra lunch tea of 3pm byeee breaks.

Less time is wasted renewing your drivers license, but sars just keep on going for years with disputes (3rd year that they "lost" the documents)

I have a final demand to submit supporting documents, as I made a net loss during that period which equals 0 income, I'm not even doing business in the country, is it possible to deregister as a SA taxpayer ?

if you are a resident in the country then you need to submit returns in this country.

I got 13k back - Mr SARS was kind enough to sponsor my iPad... Ok, actually it was my logbook and my retirement annuity.

Owe 10k largely because the company that retrenched me refused to apply for a retrenchment package tax exemption directive. :(
