Do you/will you vote positively or negatively?

Positive Voting: Voting for a party based on their ideals and whether you agree with their Manifesto etc.

Negative Voting: Voting for someone other than the party that is in power which you do not agree with, just because you do not agree with the ruling party.

Neither is good or bad in my opinion, it would just be interesting to see how people vote.

Both. I will vote for the DA because:
(1) It is a vote against the ANC
(2) Helen Zille has done a great job as Mayor of Cape Town and has set the benchmark in good government. Besides if the DA win the WC, then there will be less infighting between City and Provincial admins and more chance of service delivery.

Ill probably vote for the cope party, although my beliefs are with the DA. Reason for this, either the ANC or COPE will win, we are a minority against the black south africans, so I will vote against Zuma.

Negative voting for me :(

*facepalm*

Positive Vote:

Will vote for the DA. Helen Zille has been voted as major of the year against some great politicians from all over the world. She has also proven what she stands for!

Oh, and it's to vote against the ruling party!

+1.

If your beliefs are for DA, then vote for DA. SA is entering a phase were coalitions and negotiations will become a part of politics.

Imagine the following situation:
ANC - 45%
Cope - 30%
DA - 20%
Others - 5%

Now if the ANC want legislation passed, they need the support of Cope or the DA.

If Cope want legislation passed, they will need the support of the ANC or the DA.

Either way, legislation can be passed if it has the DA approval. This would leave the DA in a pretty powerful position. Now, to get DA votes would require concessions. IOW, Cope (for example) would then have to support the DA some of its positions.

But I have not decided who will get my vote. But we can really look forward to probably the biggest turn out for elections, this country has ever seen, next year.

Will the ANC loose? No

Will COPE get 30%? Maybe, but currently as it is now I would say no at this moment.

Will the DA win the WC? 50/50 call. But the ANC will not be in power here. I think they have lost too much of their supporters here.

Any other regions the ANC will loose? There is the EC & FS. They will win these two porvinces, but will not have a 66% vote in these Provincial Legislations.

The rest of the country the ANC will win.

So I will vote against the ANC, but my vote will go to a party that will "try" to make a difference.

As mentioned above a vote for any opposition party counts. To be honest - personally I wouldn't want to see us turn into a two party state - coalition governments might be messy but at least one everyone has got past the power struggle proposals have to be good to be passed...

There are rumours that opposition parties are talking about forming coalitions. Don't know how true this is, but it does show that the opposition parties are in the know of something.

I will voting positively. Stil deciding who to vote for but i have a good idea. I think even a negative vote will be a good vote, as it will contribute to the ANC having less seats in the National Assembley.
