I've been wondering about outside beams and their effectiveness.

We have one outside beam in the front of the house and another two around the back. However, the other night I got bored and decided to see if I could sneak passed the first one. I could if I kept myself in-between the small trees in the front. So - what's the point?

We have electric fencing - which is tied into an alarm. Goes off if touched. Also an alarm inside on all doors.

Then inside we also have dogs.

I'm not so sure if we're protecting ourselves as much as we should be. Maybe I need to look into it more.

Gravel is not an option though.

Obviously discreet beams are best, ones that can not be seen from outside of yard, so they trip them more easily.

These work very well if you can get hold of them. They can be a bit pricey at times and I know some will frown at the use of them but in our current times and with crime levels being where they are its becoming more and more acceptable nowadays.

Don't know, you tell us why it was setup badly like that?

Obviously discreet beams are best, ones that can not be seen from outside of yard, so they trip them more easily.

You tell me and we'll both know. I didn't set them up like that.
