We should invite that commenter here so that they can experience some unbridled myBB flaming. He seems like the PR type that tries to stay level headed in the face of strong debate. Wonder how long he'd last?

His objective is to spark flame war in target comment section to lead controversial discussions nowhere. Always works. One page of discussions, ten pages of flame, add oil if needed to support flame for enough time to make other sensible posts/points lost/forgotten.

Now back to the subject at hand. No matter how one looks at the Dalailama issue, it has become clear what the ANC stands for. They have painted them self into a "international corner" no one wants to be and which is becoming more and more difficult to defend. From a South Africa point of view Dalailama should be seen as a "freedom fighter". (And a relatively peacefull one at that.) Does it ring a bell? How ironic. How embarrassing. The ANC are just as brain less in their internal politics as they are in the external. The difference is - internally only a few local "agents" notice,laugh and criticize, while externally the entire world wonder at their plain stupidity.

This is probably a reference to the number of Tibetan civilians killed by the Chinese Army.

The Chinese authorities would try to blame the DL for that.

What the **** are you talking about?! You are the guy whose only contribution to debate on the forum is pushing some racist agenda. Only you ever do is ANC that, AA that, BEE that even when people present clear evidence to the contrary like happened in the 'joining military' thread.

Well not exactly.... like I said, reading the history about this whole story is making me see it in a different light... Busy learning now about history of Tibet.

I think Tibet is a massive headache for the Chinese and they would love to get shot of it. They get nothing materially from it, it is expensive and generates perennial bad PR. BUT it’s a strategic possession and buffer country that takes them to the natural barrier of the Himalaya.

An argument could be made that the Dalai Lama is playing a very subtle game. He knows that Tibet cannot survive alone in the region. By continually harassing the Chinese he ensures that they don’t abandon Tibet because it would be a Chinese loss of face in the region as they would be seen to be ‘giving-in’ to the DL.

The Chinese initial take-over of Tibet was unnecessarily brutal but Tibetan resistance was so pathetic as to be laughable. Anyone could have taken Tibet (and would have). The Chinese had the most valid reasons (strategic) and once Tibet was under Chinese protection, no-one else dared (they would have their butt kicked).

America or the west will support anything that is anti-communist, be it the al qaeda when they fought against the Russians or the rebels in Cuba.

Supporting them is not necessary a claim that the Dali Lama are right, its just indoctrinated into their, and you can very much say our way of thinking that we would support anything that is against communism.
