Man, I've tried 3 times already (including the latest version) and it just doesn't grab me - no idea why....

I can't get into it. I think there's too much complexity for me - I play games to decelerate my brain after work. Something that makes me think too hard is counterproductive. It's an awesome game though...

My experience also

I felt that way too at the start and I could never get it to stick. Then I started reading up on the different facets of the game, how the passive skill tree works as well as the ascendancy trials and sundries like that. I think PoE can be very, very overwhelming if you are coming from a Diablo background and that coupled with a storyline with no cinematics or cutscenes makes it seem very flat and grindy from the get-go.

Once you put in a few hours it becomes really addictive :)

I don't know if anyone followed Athene on YouTube when he was the first person to fight Diablo in D3 live and with no gear on Inferno. Well Athene has been banned from YouTube recently... and soon to be Twitch... apparently view botting. Not to mention his meltdown over the last year.

If I had to guess, it probably has to do with the complexity of the game, combined with the slow pace at the beginning. If anyone reading this does ever want to give it a go, follow a build guide to get at least one character to end-game without the frustration of getting stuck trying to figure it all out yourself.

Also, in general ARPG talk while we wait for D4, there's also Grim Dawn to try, which is pretty good, and there's an expansion coming out for that soon as well.

I've always been a fan of Diablo played 1,2 and 3 on release. D3 was pretty terrible at launch but right now its in a good place, I think its the best ARPG out there.

I liked POE and Grim dawn but nothing can match Diablo 3's gameplay.

My hopes for D4 are something new and fresh using the latest tech for something a bit different.
Blizzard doesn't innovate. They copy and refine.

Bwahahaha... Laughable statement. POE makes D3 look like solitaire...

And yet somehow in D3 you could whirlwind around obstacles from day one instead of getting stuck on them like with cyclone. The gameplay is still far better than in PoE. I also don't recall rubber banding nearly as much in D3. It's a real shame that some people are unable to give credit where it's due

Apparently Blizzard has been pushing out WC3 patches for the first time in years. In anticipation for what, one may wonder? ;)

I wouldn't mind a remaster, but a new entry would be so cool. W3 is probably my most played game over the years. Loved the campaign, and played the hell out of the multiplayer.

Don't necessarily see a connection between the new patch (which did come after a really long down-time) and a new game, unfortunately. May have been a way to test the waters for a remaster, though.

D3 looks good and plays smooth. But that is blizzard for you, but the game lack's depth. Not story wise but build/item wise.

Well, I doubt any announcement will be made regarding Warcraft 4.

They did however drop that they're working on multiple Diablo projects, so I wouldn't be surprised with both a remaster and a #4 .

But I wouldn't mind a Warcraft 4, they've added enough lore/characters/races to WoW to make design pretty easy...but RTS isn't doing great at the moment. If they did introduce War4 they'd split up and take away what little steam SC2 has left in the competitive gaming scene.

I no longer have the stamina for RTS - never even finished SC2 even though I bought all the expansions.

In fact, come to think of it, since Batman, D3 and Hearthstone are the only games that I've really sunk serious time into...

I loved the first Dungeon Siege too

(Looks wistfully at unplayed collection sitting on shelf and in steam library)

I wouldn't mind a D4. Can't be worse than D3. I have a DH that can clear GR101, and I can't be bothered anymore, i mean, what else is there except the endless grind. There is no end game in D3, just levelling up legendary gems. I hope they come up with something different.

Yep - I ran a Barb for the first time this season, got it to the point where I'd completed the Season Journey and needed to grind for legendary gem augments to hit the higher GR.

That's when I stopped

:D

It was still fun getting to that point though :D
