I'm still waiting for Core to decrease their prices based on the rands current strength....![]()
What I had read is that rather than cutting the prices of existing models it is rumoured that Apple is considering introducing cheaper models (eg Netbooks) to their lineup of computers.

I do it all the time - there will be VAT to pay on this side as well as some horrendous shipping rates. My 3lb camera would have cost $170 to send via UPS.has anyone imported a macbook from the states? i want one... but i just can't live with the murderous rip-off of paying 13k for something which converts to +- 8.3k when converted from the $ price of $999.
i'd probably have bought one already by now if i didn't know this
so back to my point.... i have a friend in the states whom i can transfer the money to and she can send it to me as a "gift" ... what are the costs i'm gonna have to look at?
Go to amazon, find the item and get the dimensions of the package along with the weight. Then head over to the courier of your choice and see what they'll charge.gosh, i'm not totally sure to be honest! she came here to finish her PHD and stayed with our fam for a while.... she mentioned where it was but i can't quite remember (i've e-mailed her asking lol)...
so if i pay $999 for the macbook... how much extra do you reckon i'll end up paying for everything?
