Possible new iPad Pro and iPad Air launch date revealed

Apple Inc.’s overseas suppliers have ramped up production of the company’s long-anticipated new iPads and a launch is planned for early May, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The release will centre on revamped versions of the iPad Pro and iPad Air, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public.

It’s been about 18 months since the last updates — a drought that’s contributed to already-sluggish demand for tablets.

They come out with new phones and laptops annually, why not ipads?

It is, just go to the site. It’s not a volume seller relative to the standard iPad and therefore gets updated less frequently but it’s still a thing.
