Hi there,

So I will keep this as short as possible. I got upgraded today to the 200/100 package on WebAfrica. I have a Netgear N300 Wireless DSL Modem Router. My previous 100/50 connection ran like clockwork. Now on the 200/100 connection my download is pretty much the same as on my 100/50 account but my upload has gone up to 100MB. I am assuming that my router is the bottleneck considering it has four 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports and the yellow WAN port I use for my Fibre is also limited to this or am I misunderstanding this?

I did buy a 10/100/1000 switch to add more LAN port space... is there anyway I can use this to achieving the 200/100 speed by using this and then letting it go from the switch to the router? Or will I have to look at getting a new router? If so what router specifications will I need to look for to accommodate faster than 100MB speeds without breaking the bank.

Thanks for the feedback

Yeah your WAN port is 100Mbps, you will need to upgrade your router, you need a router and then your switch "behind" the router. No way around it :)

Thanks for the feedback... now... what specific detail in the new router would I look for when buying a future proof router to accommodate the 200MB and possible 1GB speed in future?

Anything with a 1Gbps WAN port should be fine, beyond that wireless is another story, but if you are cabling things up that's a good start :).

Port speeds are 100Mbps then 1Gbps so the 1Gbps will cater as required.

Thanks PBCool. I appreciate the fact that you are responding knowing I am with another ISP. That is pure class and I really do appreciate it. Might see you in the future with this amazing service ;-)
