Every year, when everybody else gets the flu....i get a post nasal drip. Drives me insane. Are there any over the counter medicines i can take that will dry it up for sure....or do i have to go spend another R500 bucks going to the docter and getting antibiotics!!!

If you need antibiotics then you need to see the Dr anyway but since post nasal drip doesnt necessarily mean a bacterial infection you can always try something like Sinuclear or Sinutab.

Just wanna dry all the gumff up.....before i went out and bought the wrong prodcut i just wanted to hear what the other fourmites had to say.

It turns out that despite recent(?) regulation there are still plenty of meds available with pseudoephedrine available OTC - I've found that to do a great job.

Sinutab with codeine - guaranteed solution
(you can also buy Sinutab without codeine)
It will dry your drip in no time.

Um... dry is the problem.

The mucus gets thick and blocks your nose.

Use Sinutab and irrigate your nose with a nasal spray like Salex.

Speak to your Pharmacist. They usually know quite a bit about this stuff, and can give you the right thing to clear up your problem.

homeopathy

As long as the pharmacist isn't into homeopathy. I had the exact same problem, pharmacist gave me some little white pills and medium-sized yellow pills. It was homeopathy crap, the post-nasal drip ended up escalating into a full scale throat infection so bad I couldn't sleep.

Dry being a problem for post nasal drip?
You do know what post nasal drip is right?

I get it every year aswell and I never have thick anything or a blocked nose, just the lovely feeling of a nice slug-like creature cruising down my throat.

Been suffereing every year since I was a kid.

I'm telling you the reason it drips is because it gets too viscous. The sinus clogs up and pushes everything back in to your throat.

My apologies then, its not how I understood it but I might be wrong.
I have spent pretty much ever winter since I can remember it with it too.
You kind of get used to the feeling but its not something you can get 100% used to :(

lol.

Off to the pharmacy to get a fix of Codine and some irrigation.

Its just such a pain in the @ss, every year same thing...constant swallowing with a burnt throat.

Thanks for the advice guys

Post nasal drip is great for kissing.
:eek::sick:

Not helping that you have the same name as my boyfriend, albeit different spelling, ROFL

This stuff will clear you up immediately:
Coryx or Flusin S effervescent - R35 - R40 over the counter everywhere.

You put either of them in a glass of water, let em fizz & drink up. Both have Vitamin C as well. The pseudoephedrine clears you up pronto - so you can ask for just about any other pill or medicine with pseudoephedrine as the active ingredient.

symtofed <its generic so its cheap(so u might not find it are pharmacies who will push more expensive stuff), but it will keep u awake for an hour or so after taking it>

I remember suffering from it quite badly for 2 or 3 yrs.. but i dunno.. it hasn't bothered me for over 8yrs now(unrelated to meds, maybe i just older and adapted?) :)

Well i have a couple SinuTab ND's inside me....lets see what happens

im going to throw in my 7 and a half cents here, if you do go to the doc ask him if he can give you some budeflam aquanaise, its a cortisone in an extremely mild dose that murders everything in your nose and throat six love, I used to have huge problems resporitary wise and I've been using it for about 3 years now and its bloody awesome stuff!
