Post Office increases prices

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has gazetted new reserved postal services fees to be charged by the South African Post Office, effective from 1 April 2026.

The Post Office has exclusivity over reserved postal services under the Postal Services Act; these include specific, basic mail services for which the state-owned entity has a legal monopoly.

saying that the post office was already a bunch of Donkey Balls anyway would be a huge insult to Donkeys, because a couple of months back the guy that resides in the room next to me at the retirement home where i stay wanted to send a letter to his daughter (a normal ordinary letter handwritten and placed in a normal envelope) and his daughter is in Canada and these motherfarkers quoted R700 and some change (ZAR) which is not insane but mind blowingly certifiabley completely Looney Tunes

The guy decided to rather send a basically free e-mail but he was shocked at the pricing - and i was so totally astounded at what we heard that i could not even walk back to the car because i wanted to laugh so hard - these guys have their heads so far up their ar5e that its going to be impossible for them to recover to a level where they are relevant anymore, all because of the brain dead lunatic government of this cuntry

and now the farkers are increasing the prices ..... that is above mind boggling- i have no idea what they expect this is going to do to them as a going concern because it is a "gone" concern in my books .... they are too far gone and its a waste of time and taxpayer money to keep on funding them to remain open but i reckon all those government bailouts are just another method for the cadres to feed at the trough - some cants are getting that money landing up in their pockets

But they don't have that exclusivity anymore, the period elapsed and they haven't legally been granted an extension have they?

(Ignoring the change that Malatsi gazetted and all that)

Could they not tell (L)ABSA(L) face to face. Don't tell me they still have multiple customers?

I know of no-one else making use of snailmail....just the retro bank .

actually went to go fetch a parcel there last week....it was unmolested my package...

Come on now My BB, this is just pure rage bait , the sheer arrogance of this move, increasing prices while not delivering the goods?

Like ordering a hooker only for Peter Dinklage to turn up.

Well Peter might be just up your alley and you don't even know it.... :P

Feck the Post office. Couldn't even get my replacement Stanley lid from them and Stanley eventually discontinued it. Had to send it to the local distributor at my own costs and they're going to replace it. Feck the Post office and feck the ANC and feck MyBB for this article.

How is it not a surprise that you're a Stanley fanboi as well.

That doesn't sound right

Page 17 has rates, medium letters international are under R50, normal letters are probably the small one at R15. Once you add stuff like tracking etc. Is where you'll see higher prices.

You might have to pay the +130 for all the registered stuff, but it's definitely not 700.
