PostBox-Courier.com how to

That's why consolidation is a deal breaker. I buy stuff and let them stack up at the courier and then eventually I consolidate and send it all over.

I've always found them very happy to consolidate for me - Just have to email and let them know there'll be a few packages to bundle together. Generally pretty helpful ( I have three packages on the way there right now to be sent here as one )

Who exactly are you referring to?

If bullzeye is referring to Postbox Courier, then I've done exactly the same thing in the past with Gary; if I knew that there were going to be 5 parcels winging their way to his US depot, then I'd let him know. Once he'd confirmed that all 5 parcels were received by his team, then I'd ask him to consolidate and invoice me.

Yes we all know that used to the case in the past before the US depot closed down. The new one though doesn't appear to offer this service. Also remember Gary used to consolidate the items in the UK on the way to SA, not in the States (AFAIK).

Anyway, just watch out if the supplier ships a printed invoice as my last shipment which arrived on Wednesday had the invoice attached to side of the box. Gary had asked them specifically to remove the invoice but they didn't.

Hi guys, I've been reading through this forum, not sure if its feasible any longer but I'm looking at importing a PS4 through Amazon or Ebay. What would the cost be using PostBox? And will I be charged customs or VAT if the parcel is labelled as a gift? 1st timer, thanks for any advice.

Question 1, doesn't the site provide an estimation tool?

Q2: YES you will be charged customs and VAT even if it's labelled as a gift. Back in 1998 and around those years those tricks still worked but those were the early days of internet shopping. These days your chances of success are very, very low.

If you buy through Ebay do note that when paying with PayPal the seller will only be able to ship to your paypal address. He won't be able to ship to post box courier.

And Ebay has a courier option to SA too. Here is an example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-S...1492626242?pt=Video_Games&hash=item27edc1cf42

PS4 $410
shipping $34
Import charges $110

That's by FedEx economy will all duties and VAT included.

Just change your PayPal address, it's that easy. I don't think I've ever bought anything with PayPal (Ebay or other) and shipped it directly to South Africa.

I've just ordered a bunch of stuff to PBC in the states, and they're consolidating for me :)

That's great news!

I've got a bunch of stuff sitting at Stackry that I can't afford to ship using Fedex but I also can't afford to ship using DHL/USPS. There's an English lesson for you.

Does anyone know if one can collect parcels at the mail centers?

Post office rep says our stuff should be safe but because of the strike has no idea when it will be processed.

That is certainly reassuring. I was feeling pretty down today thinking of how I'm going to recover the R6k that's missing.

My EMS stuff is moving. Moved to Cape Town this afternoon or rather it was scanned here but it's the first South African tracking scan. Funnily enough the two items had the "incomming international" (sic) designation as located in CAPETOWN E EMS. It's usually that for JIMC, followed by customs also at JIMC. (Final customs is at CapeTown where we get butt r!ped by SARS).

So maybe your items will move too. Good luck.

Just an update. My EMS stuff was delivered today (Saturday). The EMS guy said that EMS and some other stuff gets delivered straight to Cape Town to bypass JIMC. He's not sure if other stuff gets prioritized but he's seen other non EMS deliveries arrive from Joburg. The Cape Town people are working overtime (i.e. Saturdays to clear the backlog).

If you live in Cape Town (at least) and use EMS you should probably expect delays of 4-5 days over the usual 3-5 business days that EMS takes, but your items should get delivered.

I received an EMS package from Japan. It bypassed JIM C completely and came straight to DBN. It was also delivered to my house.

Just wanted to post here that I'm still waiting for 2 small parcels from the UK, sent via Royal Mail on the 22nd Sept. Despite what SAPO say on their Facebook page, I think that they're sugar-coating a lot of it!

I'm thinking Small Claims Court? Should work hey?
