PostBox-Courier.com how to

Usually the delivery delays occur in SA as the courier tries his best to screw you over with extra charges or they take their time because the delivery window is so long they have several days to take their time. I found FedEx or UPS being fast before SA, then customs clearance occurs like at 2am and then it's like 2-3 days to get the item after that.

Will it show on the tracking that it goes through customs? I put the value on the used goods at $20 and labelled it as gift so shouldn't be a problem.

SAPO, UPS, FedEx, TNT and DHL show when the item is customs processed. These days many of these couriers demand ID numbers or SARS importers' codes too before they clear the parcel.

They do but the numbers are never actually checked against any database. Just saying...

and my parcel was delivered. Pretty slick service. Now Gary just needs to get the consolidation service working.

I think I paid about $141 for the shipping.

Pretty big, had a bunch of woodworking clamps that in total weighed more than 10kgs.

what do you guys buy from overseas that you cant get here -- the shipping from these forwarding sites is ridiculously expensive - did a quote on a 30cm(h) X 30cm(w) X 30(l) and it comes to over $100 - the item is worth a mere $30 compared to the shipping.

That's why consolidation is a deal breaker. I buy stuff and let them stack up at the courier and then eventually I consolidate and send it all over.

Many things cannot be purchased here. I have to buy Ice hockey equipment abroad due to the lack of stock/options available here.

Just received a service announcement from Stackry regarding SAPO strike. Cool that they're aware of little ol SA's issues.

Yeah I emailed them about this yesterday.

Also mailed them about some items stuck in the system. Said I just have to wait it out.

It's more like a heads up to use the full courier options rather than the "mail" options, at least until it's over.
