PostBox-Courier.com how to

where would one pay the custom's clearance if I opt for the latter?

Firstly, always use a physical address, preferably at the office. Secondly it depends on what shipper is used. If Fedex or UPS then they will contact you for pre-clearance payment. If it's USPS or DHL Global then this is handled by the lovely Post Office and they will expect an EFT when they arrive at your office.

Have fun.

Thanks - will do. Appears they use TNT Express - might give them a ring, to hear how it works too.

Here's the latest update from the SAPO on operations at JIMC:

JIMC operations
To work off the backlog, employees at the Johannesburg International Mail Centre are working two shifts per day now and are currently clearing more than 100 000 items per day. To speed up the clearance of letters coming from abroad, some of the incoming bags containing letters are sent directly to other mail centres from processing and then dispatched to their destinations from there.
Yesterday, the Johannesburg international mail centre received 1700 mail bags from other countries. The sorting centre is putting priority on dispatching all items that are going from South Africa to other countries.

FWIW, I've been receiving some of my items that I should've received 2 months or more ago. However, I'm still missing 1 item which was posted at the beginning of September. <sigh>

is this the correct URL?

http://www.postbox-courier.com - if so are they still operating?

I've had stuff sent there but it's not showing up in the parcel manager even though UPS shows the items have been delivered.

No reply from support, no notice of being closed.

Did you send Gary the tracking number for your parcel? They need that to make sure the parcel they have is indeed for you.

I don't know who Gary is, there's no mention of him on the site that I can find. I followed the instructions on the site, created a booking and had the item sent to that address. There's no mention anywhere of tracking numbers in the instructions or in the booking confirmation I received?

What about parcel that are sent without tracking numbers? For example local postage inside UK.

I did send support the tracking number now that I can see my parcel has been delivered to them, but hasn't been entered into the system, but they haven't replied.

Just to update everyone that may be worried:

I've bought something from Amazon.co.uk and used Postbox-courier. I did need to send an email the next day to ask about my parcel but it has been sent.

I've been using Stackry lately but the only reason really is because Stackry has a much, much more streamlined approach when it comes to receiving parcels.

If you have something shipped to Stackry they have it on their system within the hour.

If there is one thing I'd love for postbox-courier to do is to get their system to that level of consistency also.

With that comes extra costs which at the moment is in our favour if we use PBC.

If you're prepared to put some effort in, then PBC will be cheaper but if you want the system that is slick and almost foolproof then Stackry is the way to go without a doubt. They really are very good.

I did get my stuff, so yes, it works, and the pricing is good. Customer service is a bit slow to respond to mails and the booking system seems to require manual follow-up, definite room for improvement on that front.

He is actually adding some automated features to the system so frequent email communication will be less required in the future.

That would be good, it's a bit disconcerting not knowing if a parcel has arrived, especially when support takes 2-3 days to answer.

Stackry is cheaper, much cheaper, that is if you use the option where they use the post-office.
When the post-office is actually working Stackry is great. When not, then postbox-courier is likely the cheaper option.

I used to use USPS and other postal services when it was safe, too risky now.

Well I got all my parcels that I had sent using USPS and DHL international mail, but it took 2 months since the strikes. So yeah, not a great option right now.

Used to take about 1.5 weeks.
