PostBox-Courier.com how to

AFAIK, Aramex changed owners (or they were bought out by some crowd) and all the good guys left. Service levels dropped considerably which is why PBC stopped using them. I have no idea what they are like now though.

I always get Aramex confused with Berco but they may be the same company now.

PBC now has a depot in Dubai as well as Hong Kong, London and New York.

Hey guys, this thread has been quiet of late, so I thought I'd resurrect it with a question.

Shipito now offer Aramex as a shipping option. Have any of you used Aramex in the past for both local and / or international deliveries? I'd really appreciate some feedback.

Ta.

Aramax has their own international shipping company, AramexGlobalShopper.

I find it to be the cheapest shipping method to South Africa.
They also take photos of your parcels and allow you to upload invoices for SARS to get your parcels quicker.
You can pay with Credit Card or with Paypal.
Usually 3 day shipping to South Africa after it arrives into one of their overseas depots.
But they don't consolidate like PBC.

So who would be better? Aramex or PO-Courier?

Iv'e emailed POC, but it looks like I need to make an account for Aramex.

I want to order some clips and things probably not too big or expensive.

No consolidation is a deal breaker for me. Thanks though.

A couple questions, I have browsed through the thread beforehand but things are not clear so bare with me.

Say I want to order this item - Asus tablet - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
$179 - $129 (if i include gift balance)

I then have it shipped to Post BoxCourier - roughly $35.
Pay Post box courier $35 when item arrives to have it shipped to SA.
I.m then alerted when item is in SA and have to pay 25% customs roughly to Post Box Courier who pay customs fees and release package?

How do I avoid the post office and have the item delivered to my door?

Hemps, firstly that item on Amazon will ship for free to PBC. You may have to pay NY tax so you may want to choose one of the third party sellers and see if they charge tax.

PBC will then ship the parcel to you in SA and the cost will be based on volumetric weight. The applicable import duties and taxes are calculated based upon the value of the item you input into the PBC website.

They will deliver directly to you door. No post office involved at all.

Amazon offers shipping on the link you provided.. $37.85 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to South Africa

It includes Customs fees and almost the same as PBC excluding duties, I'd rather use Amazon and they deliver using a courier, not SAPO

Shipping agent will contact you.. When I used it this was Aramex to advise if there is customs cost and they send it through to your door.

Never collected any of my parcels from the PO.

Went through the process, got here in the end, not bad actually $206 for that tablet, R5500 from OrangeStore.

So just pay Amazon, then wait for the device to land at my door?

One small tip, make sure your SA ID number is part of your address, there's a separate line for it. Check under 'Your Account', then 'Manage Addresses'. If you don't fill this in, then i-parcel will send you an email requesting the details and this just delays the process.

I've had plenty of deliveries directly from Amazon and the shortest turnaround was two days.

Good luck.

Anyone confirm that Amazon.us will accept VCpay as I don't have credit card?

The website says this;

VCpay is the anywhere, anytime Mobile Virtual MasterCard®. This means VCpay cards can be used at any South African merchant that accepts MasterCard®’s.

Aside from the spelling and grammatical errors, it may work at Amazon but you can only try and see. Alternatively try and link the card to a PayPal account and see if that works.

At pay and ship screen on Amazon and wondering if I should use cheapest shipping method, with all the holidays coming up etc, do you guys think if I order and pay today that chances are good it'll arrive in Eastern Cape next week?

Local holidays don't affect the system until it arrives in the country. Amazon will pre-clear your parcel but the courier will only deliver on work days. Just hot the go button already ;)

last two USA shipments, brilliant. Delivered to their NYC depot on Tuesday and in my hands custom cleared by Friday! 3 days with clearing is super fast and efficient. They are not as cheap as aramex but way way way faster and better to deal with if you need an urgent shipment.

Does Aramex allow for consolidation of parcels?
