PostBox-Courier.com how to

How does this compare to aramex global shopper. I lost 2 parcels at aramex's usa depot so thinking of trying this. Is it any better?

PBC are a small unit so there's plenty of flexibility. I haven't lost any parcels so don't worry about that. Give them a try, you won't look back.

Has anyone ever received a item from post box courier (especially a small item) and was not happy with their shipping costs?

They are very expensive in general and a lot of hidden costs which I didn't know about.

I agree with the expensive part, I have got an item I ordered quick from them but the shipping fee was alot. I guess you pay for it.. I cant imagine buying anything over 1kg, you have to be prepared to pay :[

They're about as expensive as a regular courier but the fact that you can consolidate shipments is something you can exploit.

My experience is as follows for low-weight packages ie., largeish envelopes: if I consolidate at least three such packages then the total cost is about the same as sending the three separately via Royal Mail International Signed. The difference is I get them within a few days via PBC as opposed to, currently, ten weeks via Royal Mail Signed.

As far as hidden expenses go... I assume you mean the charges: (1) Customs clearance, (2) Vat and (3) Disbursement? (From my PBC invoices once packages clear customs in SA.)

(1) Is the magic sauce that ensures that we get our packages cleared in a reasonable time-frame. As opposed to sitting in a container for two months.

(2) Yes, I hate SARS as much as you.

(3) Not certain about this one. Admin charges? Anyone know?

Again, if you consolidate several packages then you can save on (1) and (3) as these are per-shipment fees.

My experience with PBC has been really good -- with both the UK and USA depots. The level of service provided is astounding.

At this point I'm tired of waiting and worrying about missing/delayed SAPO packages. The low-point for me occurred recently when I ended up driving a 2.5hr roundtrip to retrieve a package that had been given a detention notice. (Lovely, my package was naughty and had to stay after school.) The supposedly missing invoice was attached to the package . This was the end of week 10 on-the-nose after dispatch in the UK. (A "bargain" book on ebay and the seller insisted on sending via Royal Mail.)

Giving PBC a try. Let's see - will report back.

I guess this service is not for you then. Maybe one of the more mainstream services will suit you. Try Aramex or Stackry (I've used them before).

I've used PBC for a Google home I purchased, it came really quick!

Yes it was expensive but. Although I guess you got to pay, it's definitely worth it though.

(also the system didn't really update tracking etc, item got delivered on a Saturday, luckily I was at home)

Just for interest sake, last year PBC consolidated and shipped 415 parcels for me. That's not 415 individual items though as many of the parcels contained multiple items so probably way over 2000 items.

So the system does work, trust me on this.

My first order with them went very well, will try another - this time consolidating.

Just used these guys for the first time, after my last Aramex Global Shopper experience left muuuch to be desired

6 days from ordering 2 seperate bits on Ebay,to arriving in my hands. I was actually shocked
The Aramex experience was a month and a bit in comparison

Ratewise well worth the slight price difference

I used them a couple of years ago. My biggest issue is the lack of response to queries.

I want to bring in two phones and need insurance, just for my peace of mind, and I don't know if PBC offers any kind of insurance.

Woah, recently got hammered with a shipment. It's 6kg item but I think it was sent in an oversized box, was expecting a charge of around $180-$200 but way over $300:(

Sigh, don't feel like emailing them to complain as I have mainly used other shippers this year but thought heck let me try them here as the same item was around $200 last time, big oopsy this time, man did I get nailed here!!

Oh well, sometime I will email Gary about this, but its a conversation I've had a few times, anyhow just be aware that shipping with pbc is more reliable than aramex but heck will it cost you!!

When you actually get the item just measure/weigh the box. You can't really blame PBC for over charging it the item was packaged poorly.

To be fair to PBC, they don't supply the original packaging so if you didn't request consolidation then they wouldn't know what was inside the box.

Well if there is only one parcel there is nothing to consolidate. Other forwarders either offer repacking or they work on weight and not dim size. The USA company used ground so they don't care about box size - so from their point of view parcel was well packed - it was 80% volumetric air bags.

I can't see the box it was delivered in so I would expect PBC to pop off an email saying we received an oversized box would you like us to repack - even if they charged for this I would have saved over $100 on shipping fees - anyhow I have some very expensive airbags - maybe I should sell them on the classifieds here :)

Yes but how would PBC know that it's an 'oversized box'? What exactly is that? For all they know you may be importing bubble wrap. You should really be complaining to the seller.

LOL no, cant complain to the seller for wrapping properly for USA road freight. For example Stackry by default check every box to see if it can be shrunk. It's not so hard to offer this as a service, USA companies are notorious for oversizing boxes.

I have had this issue with PBC in the past, I would have expected to be notified,

Anyhow bygones, win some, lose some,it is what it is, good news is I have a **** load of plastic bubbles.:crylaugh::crylaugh:
