JOHANNESBURG - Dial-Direct on Thursday said it is deeply disappointed
that it will no longer be able to make a difference on Gauteng roads.
This after the Pothole Brigade was forced to shut down.
The initiative came under the spotlight last year after service
providers said it did not comply with stipulations of the Municipal
Financial Management Act.
More than 50,000 potholes were fixed under the project.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) had to formalise procedures through
a tender process, which did not materialise.
Dial Direct spokesperson Bradley Du Chenne said, “We made a huge
difference to the condition of roads. We were committed to doing it on
an extended basis. Unfortunately, government has not been playing ball
with us.”
