Pothole Brigade Shuts Down

Some people really don't like it when somebody will do something for free if they could make money off of it.
The argument I heard was that "this people are getting free publicity for doing this wek, so that is not fair."

You think Dial Direct were doing it for free? It was free advertising and probably accounted for most of their PSI targets. If this was an NGO I'd agree.

It is not free advertising, they paid 23 peoples salaries and for the material and equipment. I think it cost them R1 mil a month.

You're right, it was the DA who was doing that.

I think the tender probably specified the amount of bitumen. Bidders would have to get that priced and at volume it could be quite a different figure to what DD were paying and have available.

Yeah the DA was doing it out of desperation to save people from destroying their cars on some serious holes.

Government agencies said there was a nationwide shortage of bitumen. Dial direct never ran out. So was there a shortage? I doubt it. I call shena****ns.

The only way to make them fix the holes now is when you get damage to your car from a pothole, you need to sue them.

fantasticfred, some of us don't read every thread. This was the first I've read today that had any mention of ANC corruption. Anyway, maybe more clueless people will have their eyes opened if ANC corruption is brought up more often.

Free in the sense that they were not being paid directly to fix the pot holes.

But I understand that there are some people who do think that they (not Dial Direct) should be paid to do it.
