Well the suburb of Norwood and surrounding areas has been down for about 30minutes now. Anyone else? Could this be another sub station fire?

What are they doing at the Hospitals, etc. or do they have power backups in place.

Hospitals have to have emergency generators. That is a minimum requirement.

Normally, if a hospital is running on it's generator, so new surgical cases are allowed to start (with the exeption of emergency cases). Since last year's fiasco with loadshedding etc, some hospitals installed a second generator to allow them to carry on with surgical lists as normal.

Power failures in Midrand about 3 days in a row - for about 30 min to an hour. However it happens so frequently - people don't report it anymore and it creates a false sense of power-up time in our area. If you phone Escom - they will tell you it's those clowns, Gautrain digging up the cables again or doing some kind of reconnection/re-wiring. People just don't know how much this Gautrain project is costing the country, with power failures, roads re directed, robots continually out of order; costing the residents/businesses of Midrand millions - all this should be added to the cost of Cowtrain!
