So my PC, laptop, screen etc. all run off an inverter.

However, whenever my fridge switches on or off, the screen cycles power - goes off for a second or two and then comes back on.

Whilst this is mildly irritating, I'm more concerned about this potentially causing damage to the screen.

Is my fear unwarranted here?

Also, any suggestions on how to prevent this?

You are overloading your Inverter, you have too much running off it, when the fridge starts it pulls amperage from the inverter causing the power dip

The only thing currently running on the inverter is a laptop, screen and router.

Then it should not dip at all, the inverter would keep a constant power flow during power dips because of the batteries. You might have a problem with your inverter

Or the batteries needing replacement.
Charging capacity could be badly depleted.

Running any type of AC motor off a modified/square sine wave is a big no no for future readers.

Put a multi meter on the plug where your inverter connects to and turn the fridge on.

Probably a voltage drop but this shouldnt have an affect on the inverter output unless the inverter isnt regulating the voltage correctly and not switching over to batteries when the voltage is low.

I suspect the fridge has a failing capacitor on the compressor causing the voltage drop if there is indeed a voltage drop.

Eish. I'll have to get a multimeter.

The inverter is about 2 months old, the fridge about 3 months old.

what inverter are you using Pure sine or modified sine?

Well, it's black and has a button on the front.

This one I believe.

That looks like a modified sine wave inverter. Do yourself a favour and get a pure sine wave inverter if you value your electronics.

No man.

The fridge is in the kitchen, the inverter is by my desk. The fridge is plugged into the wall, not the inverter.

So - power from wall to inverter. Then inverter to laptop, router, screen.

If you don't know then probably modified - you should not run a fridge on modified sine- you going to F-up the fridge or inverter - if you haven't already done that yet

Motors, fans, compressor and stuff that spins no likey Modified sine.
He's not running the fridge on the inverter he listed what he ran.

Guessing, when someone asks you what computer you have, you say a white one

It was clearly a sarcastic joke, I just didn't know off-hand and aren't clued up on inverters, as my initial post probably indicated.

But yes, my PC is a white one.

Thank you, I'll take that into consideration.
