I know we sell them to corporate - but are they in any consumer products at all? Wireless AP?

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to ask here... but I guess that you want to know if you get PoE devices with consumer products.

All our IP phones in my office use PoE. The Nanostation wireless device that my dad has also uses PoE, and this device isn't enterprise class stuff.

So ja, PoE is available on some consumer products. PoE is quite common on WUG (Wireless User Group) kits.

Basically, if I buy a POE wireless router/access point at Incredible for my house - can I simply plug the ethernet in the PC like normal and the router on the other side?

I doubt that it will be POE only and even if it is they will probably supply the POE injector aswell.

I'm not entirely sure.

The Nanostation that my dad has came with a PoE injector.
So you could connect that like follow: PC <- LAN cable -> PoE injector <- LAN cable from PoE port on PoE injector -> Nanostation

I'd guess that the PoE wireless router/AP at Incredible connection would also have a PoE injector like that, in which case you can connect it the way you described - but of course with the PoE injector in the middle (exactly like I described above).

Ah - thanks.

Guy here just said the same thing ... I'd need an injector

The PoE enabled WiFi AP would most likely come with a PoE injector.

This is how a typical PoE injector looks like:
TPL_POE_Injector-1.jpg

1) DC input from power source
2) LAN input/output for LAN cable to your PC/network switch
3) PoE output for LAN cable to the router/PoE enabled device

glad I saw this thread... been looking at some powerline network solutions

http://www.dlink.com.au/products/?pid=846
http://amplifi.dlink.com/products/DHP-540

I get why you would use the first product, but I dont get the application for the second one?

Surely you can just run a network cable to a normal router? From the first device?

Powerline and PoE are two very different technologies.

Powerline is ethernet of Power and PoE is Power over ethernet.
Powerline is data over a traditional power line where PoE powers a device over a ethernet cable

P.S.- The second one is probably just used as an all in one device instead of having 2 devices like a wireless router inste
