Hi guys :D

K I was wondering if a Gigabyte Odin 585W PSU will be able to power:

ASUS Maximus Extreme
Q8200
4850 1Gig
4Gigs DDR3 RAM
2-3Tbs of Space

ty :D

Just check. That PSU is only something like 470W continuously. But I still think it will be enough, depending on the number of HDDs.

At about 30W maximum power draw per hard drive (average power draw would be closer to 10W - 12W) I'd hardly classify the hard drive as a major power consumer :D I refer you to this page.

I am running an not so famous brand 600W (probably over-rated) with my rig in the signature.

On the topic of power supplies. I have an Aerocool 620 Watt modular PSU the zeroDB model. And I am running an Intel QX9770 core, 2 x 150 Raptors in RAID 0 with a 9800GTX card, but I will be adding another card for SLI purposes.

Do you think I need a bigger PSU?

Also I MAY MAY MAY, be able to get Tri Sli on those cards haha, for that I assume I WOULD need a bigger PSU haha.

If he uses 4-6 HDDs for his 2-3TB then it can be 120W-180W. That is why I recommend him to considder the HDD power as well.

At startup, but average power usage is, as I stated, closer to 10W - 12W with idle usage about 7W. Even with 6 hard drives (which is the maximum that can be installed on the onboard SATA connectors on most motherboards) the average power draw would be about 60W, which, to put it into perspective, is less than the PCI-e bus provides ;) I ran a Q6600, 8800GT, Striker Extreme, 2GB DDR2-800, a 22" LCD and 8 hard drives off a 450W no-name power supply (before switching to a 500W Thermaltake for free :D) so I believe a reputable 585W power supply should be enough for his system, don't you? ;)

ok shot guys :D but I will be running 2 x 1tb HDD's for now maybe ad another later and a 80Gig :D

Yes you would, that psu only has 30amps off the 12V+ line (360watts max even though its 20amps + 18 amps if you add both lines)

Adding another card might even be too much for it.
