Okay, let's try work this out...

6 KW @ R1.48 per hour average Eskom charge (Jan '23) = R8.88 p/h

A 9 Kg heater bottle wholesale just cost me R280, with petrol maybe R300.

I get about 105 hours out of that and about equivalent heat as any oil / fan units so don't agree with the direct conversion given - again a matter of heater efficiency here I suppose.

Anyway, works out to R2.86 p/h x 3 heaters = R8.58 p/h. So very little difference at the mo, although gas cost has increased a lot recently.
It's 2.48 a unit, so 6kw would be 14.88 am hour, plus it's 2.48 for the first 349 units after that it's 2.80 for the next 150, then it's over 3 for the next

You have to look at the BTU's of each heater.

Thought it sounded wrong, I guess a typo on the googling result page.

So gas is still a massive winner

I would think its much of a muchness if electricity is cheaper than gas when boiling water:

Maybe. Will affect us when we get our gas shower unit.

We've had a gas stove for 20 years, do use the microwave about equal time but have never used the electrical oven.
Gas cooking also tastes much better, only a braai beats that.

2 years ago, what has the gas price increase vs the electricity

Carte Blanche this Sunday; "Could SA one day face a national grid collapse?"

And replacing the previous post, the LPG conversion is a bit different here - info from our local Afrox:

Today I decided to switch over to Eskom at 4.30, cause clouds pulled in at 2pm during my shedding session. So yeah gonna use the power I paid for
