poweralert stage 2.....

So power was off at 10pm but came on before 11pm? Odd
It seems they are ending loadshitting just before 11pm just like how it was for us on saturday night.

Unless I slept through it, I don't think I had my 2am slot this morning either.

So it looks like the new schedule is stage 2 @ 5am-4pm, then stage 4 @ 4pm-10:50pm.

Also been some not going off at 8pm, and one time this week we didn't go off at 6pm.

Ours has been all over the place, nothing that can be predicted. We've decided not to bother trying & just enjoy if it happens.

Theory:
They're overshedding at times of course, this now a new method to throttle back, for grid balance?
Then maybe only with some areas on electronic switching.

Our skipping started with the last maintenance session a few weeks ago, since then there has been more regular LS times here so suggests we were maybe moved to electronic switching.
Don't know if you were switched to electronic switching, that sounds out of CP's wheel house right now. But it could be possible, I've had 2 maintenance slots this year already, the one benefit is we come back more regularly.

Indeed, look how much lower demand was from available capacity on saturday:

Not sure as others have been moaning they didn't come back after their 2am slot, it's really really bizarre

That's what happens when eskom doesn't tell people they are not shitting anymore.
I think the last thing they want to do is give any hope for bigger-picture improvements, there's still lots of catch up maintenance ahead.

Probably the manual switching folks aren't mind readers.
A lot of JHB still is manual :-) will see today and tomorrow, as stage 2/stage 4 is still pretty much stage 4 in JHB anyway, you may get lucky and only have 2 slots, may

Yeah, if eskom says shitting is ending at 11pm, then those people will be in luck. Right now, it's the blind leading the blind.

Were supposed to be off from 4 to 6 am but only went off at 5:05 am until 6:00 am ish.
That's because eskom is not shitting between 10:50pm-5am, but they don't want anybody to know that, it's a secret.

Weather suggests we'll have a change to something more stable on Fri.

But in another month or so we'll be back on summertime maintenance.

Summertime maintenance would be from around October, so yeah LS isn't ending anytime soon

I really doubt this is as widespread as you think. Quite often you guys say you've been shed-skipped again, and we haven't. The opposite also happens.

They probably not sure how heavy the impact will be from the cold from so they are keeping the cards close to their chest.

Is it cold in Jhb today?
