Yeah from 4 units to 9 thanks to geyser and using Eskom thanks to the cloud sigh. Apparently enough sun to go back to solar as it's at 1.2kw

Sunshine is great for domestic solar (and reducing demand loads), but lack of wind reduces renewables generation at peak times.
Isn't renewables loss too small compared to the demand reduction gains in this case though, I wonder.

Not really
You forget, we don't live in the tropics like you do..
Are you saying your geyser loses 30 degrees in 15 hours? I turn my geyser on when I go to bed and turn it off in the morning before my shower. Then in the evening I have another hot shower and then I turn it on when I go to bed. Rinse and repeat.

I'm not the best example - ancient gravity-assist geyser with external heater elements, and we've turned off/on ourselves for years to save on cost.
But keeping it that warm overnight up here in winter... you forget your past

We didn't worry back then. Leccy was 10c/kWh.

6pm Monday to 3am Wednesday is a bit more then 15 hours. Also as stated we're not in tropical climate, we were at most 15 degrees yesterday during the day and around 2 at night, Monday night was around 3. Plus when you don't have water for over 24 hours people tend to want to shower and bath the second they can. So I showered my son showered, so the freezing cold water from the taps topped it back up which is where most of the warming came from, the tap water is colder then from my fridge right now.

Ah, forgot about the incoming water temp.
