Since I moved into the neighbourhood a couple of months ago, solar panels on roofs gradually increased to the point where it almost looks like no loadshedding when you drive at night. I wonder if all the inverters finally pushed it over the edge.
Last night we also had a 5-hour slot due to constant tripping. It's not cold, either.

So the saga continues.

Still no power - however a mini sub blew up somewhere in the area and Eskom lines are down too, affecting a larger area on two substations.

Fortunately I have 80% battery left and BMS is reporting 12hrs from now till 20% SoC.

We haven’t reduced much loads watched TV played on PS5 etc.

Just kept the heater off in our sons room and dishwasher will go on when sun is up instead of this evening.

Next door has run out of power as they had lights on last night through to this morning. But now it’s just darkness there.

If the solar panels are charging batteries during the day so it looks like there is no loadshitting at night then how would that add to the load when the power comes back on?

My tinfoil guess is that people keep their batteries at 100%, so whatever they used during 17:00-19:00 gets topped up from the grid immediately when it gets restored, causing a trip as too many inverters kick in at the same time.

My own strings facing NE/NW stops producing anything useful around 17:30 daily.

It might not be this, but something is up over here. We've had a lot of problems in the last 2 weeks with constant tripping of different parts of the neighbourhood right after loadshedding during the evenings.

Last night was the first time I was affected, but other parts were affected over the last 2 weeks.

Yeah I'm North east facing in JHB, from around 5pm I only generate around 100w till 6pm when it just goes bloop.

Could be a bunch of people just with Portables and inverters that are charging? Cause you know complexes don't allow gennies or solar panels cause heaven forbid it destroys the aesthetics.
For now who knows, but on my side I am more and more wanting to finally get the wifi dongle for my inverter, cause now I cannot tell when power is 100% until the street lights come on. Cause it seems everyone and their dog has backup power of some variety so lights are burning next door, across the road, behind me. It's like dammit how am I supposed to know.
