Not even sure how they bypass loadshedding for a certain time

They were fixing and adding back to the grid, the pylon cable that was vandalized on Wednesday, that caused that outage and testing it to get power restored to Boothill, so they did it during load shedding. They would have turned Christian De Wet off to do so, which resulted in most of block 11 being off. I actually think that it is rather commendable that they thought ahead to give it a 3 hour window over the load shedding period to fix it, so we are not too badly affected.

I found out during an outage in my area at one point that in this area at least, it is the contractors that turn the electricity off manually for load shedding, so they are able to leave it on for doing needed repairs.

They control what goes off and on. They can turn specific areas on from the main sub.
When Eskom controlled it the whole sub was shut down.

They have always said they cant to repairs during LS. Well switching on testing anyway.

Their track record of issues in this area only speaks to incompetence and complete disregard. Hence our surprise

In the past they couldn't do that, they would need to have a break for loadshedding.

Before when Eskom controlled it

I remember. Perhaps something changed when City Power took over the load shedding schedules, who knows, but that could also explain the random times that our power does not go off for load shedding when it is supposed to

Yup they are working some where

So, 2am and a car swerves outside our house causing an Uber driver to hit our street pole.
Cap on our electric breaker circuit falls off and causes it to trip. Power out through half the house.

Never rains..

Freaking hell and they'll take their time to come fix that

Friend of mine lives in Boksburg. Last night the street kids warned the CPF they were going to target the sub. Security companies did patrols but they still managed to strip the whole sub during load shedding. They're now waiting for SAPS to take prints. Which I'm sure will make all the difference.

And a new sub can take weeks

We got lucky, city power on its way here now. Seems their smartphone app is the best report option.
