Dear thread readers. I hope this message finds you well.

I would like to inform you that I'm doing my part in getting loadshedding back before elections. This morning is quite cold here in EC, so instead of wearing a jacket, I decided to run the aircons on heat mode.

Don't turn them off until Wednesday.

Eskom has about 3 days worth of emergency reserves and weekends allow them to recover slightly.

When you think EC has an impact on loadshedding, the only reason they even loadshed you is that the moaners would accuse Eskom of favouring you because you are an ANC stronghold.

Still cute though.

It was a joke. Calm down. I know EC contributes very little. The fact that I started it with "Dear thread readers" should have given that away.

@TheChamp the real reason I turned it on was for the pets inside :) It's warmer now, so I turned it off.

Yes, GP needs to get cold, then the wheels fall off. Nice graphic, where's it from?

Champ, is this how you're gonna be for the next week, nervously reacting to everything just 'cos your team is gonna lose its majority squeeze?

Shem

Why are they including my suburb?? No other middle or higher class northern suburbs that I can see

Areas with high consumption of electricity

  • Alexandra
  • Freedom Park
  • Hospital Hill
  • Kliptown
  • Klipfontein
  • Lawley
  • Matholesville
  • Mayibuye
  • Mountain View
  • Naturena
  • Pennyville
  • Pimville Zone 9
  • Prescast
  • Princess
  • Slovo
  • Thembelihle
  • Tshepisong
  • Vlakfontein

It's a logical approach. Maximum load reduction levels should always be reached before even a single stage of loadshedding is initiated. Cut the areas that don't pay first.
Looking at the list, that's what they are timing to do

Yes and no, it's about protecting overloading of equipment and not about the national grid, so not related to LS. Or so they say.

Why would "small" City Power have such an influence anyway.... unless some of our theories about Soweto last winter had some real meat. Personally I thought such occasions were just a matter of being on the edge nationally.

City power maintains those areas and is introducing Load Reduction to combat overload. Generally those areas are the ones who don't pay
Eskom used to do it before load shedding got so bad.

Back to the weird inclusion of our suburb - we've got a weak(?) substation here which tripped every few weeks, so maybe why we were also given the red flag today. But there's many places with poor condition equipment.
I don't think this area is a Snowflake hotspot, just normal peeps that I usually see. Certainly isn't cold, just cool.

Seeing that you live in an area that pays their bills, there's no reason why shitty power can't upgrade the transformer.

What if they would rather spend the money on an overseas trip?

Anyway, we've decided that it's likely an error, mistaken usage of some sort of alphabetical list.

Let us know if your power goes off from 4pm - 10pm and from 4am - 10am.

Those are quite long peaks there shitty powa. Transformers don't like to be off for 6 hours.
