Eskom keep repeating this line that increasing load shedding doesn't equal increased risk of national black out. Of course it does because at some stage you run out of load to shed and the thing collapses.
"Managing planned maintenance to the minimum level of maintenance required over winter".
So, doing patch jobs? Fix the units properly so that they stay online once they are brought back into production.

When? Before the next cold front?
Easy enough for them to go to stage 7 & 8 in the meantime.
But I doubt that, main risk is likely mid winter.

They are releasing the new schedules (9-16) before 1 June I heard.

If their peak residual demand is correct, unlikely we will go above Stage 6 if there aren't massive breakdowns. Interesting that May is higher than July. Obviously that is for the whole country but Cape Town July power demand would definitely be higher than May.
Sabotage is a much bigger factor. Maybe it's time for them to consider hiring Rambo-types.
This is why my prediction is we won't go about stage 6.

I don't believe Eskom about many things, but I believe them over "the experts" who said we'd reach 37GW in winter. As @Lupus has said repeatedly, that was last achieved more than a decade ago in 2011 or some such.
