Connecting battery charger/battery/inverter systems to the Eskom grid supply, as suggested by Michel Melengret, should be prohibited. The only exception could be for uninterruptible power supply systems, but then for computers and emergencies only. The use of this type of sys-
tem as a backup for Eskom failures is most wasteful. During the last few months, hundreds, if not thousands, of these have been installed in mostly well-to-do households at enormous cost). But do these owners and installers (and Melengret) realise that, once Eskom sup-ply comes back after a power failure, the batteries have to be charged up again? They are, in other words, stealing power from other consumers. This extra load might cause the next power failure or load-shedding. Intelligent control, as Malengret suggests, as a way to recharge batteries only at night, is far fetched and non- existent in the hundreds of systems installed lately.

Makes sense though, more inverters will just lead to higher stages of load shedding and more outages. More load shedding will cause even more homes and businesses to install inverters. Higher stages will then necessitate larger battery banks and more powerful chargers putting even more strain on the grid...

Eskom needs to create a peak and off peak system for households and business with inverters, force them to charge the batteries in off peak slots to lower the spike in demand when LS ends

Eskom needs to stfu and do its one and only job. Produce electricity. If they spent just half the energy they spend on bitching about when I shower on actually fixing their ****, we'd have more than enough locally to meet demand and even have excess to export

Same. It seems like the pre-flood schedule but with new area numbers.
Looking through it now, it seems about the same with no changes, keeping the 2 hour slots and normally at most 2 times a day at Stage 6. So who knows...
