Guys

I asked chatGPT to generate a story involving some agressive Klingons, Kirk and loadshedding.

Here's the result :

Captain Kirk of the starship Enterprise gripped the armrest of his command chair tightly as the ship shook violently from a direct hit by the Klingons' disruptor cannons. The bridge crew struggled to maintain their composure, their faces illuminated by the red emergency lights that bathed the room.
"Shields at 30% and falling!" shouted Lieutenant Uhura, her voice filled with urgency.
Kirk knew he had to act swiftly to turn the tide of battle. "Mr. Scott, divert all available power to the shields!"
"Aye, Captain," came the strained response from Chief Engineer Scott, who was working furiously in the ship's engine room.
But just as the Enterprise was about to counterattack, a sudden darkness enveloped the entire starship. The bridge was plunged into silence, broken only by the distant hum of emergency power.
"What happened?!" Kirk exclaimed, his voice echoing through the darkness.
Ensign Chekov, the young navigator, quickly checked the ship's systems. "Captain, it seems we've been hit by a massive energy drain. We're experiencing a planet-wide power outage."
"Power outage?" Kirk repeated incredulously. "In the middle of a battle? How is that even possible?"
"Unknown, sir," Chekov replied, his voice tinged with confusion. "It appears to be a localized phenomenon related to the planet's power grid."
Kirk's mind raced as he considered their options. With the ship in complete darkness, they were vulnerable to another attack from the Klingons. But without power, they couldn't retaliate.
"Spock, any ideas?" Kirk asked, hoping for his first officer's logical insights.
Spock stood stoically beside the captain, his eyes adjusting to the dim emergency lighting. "Captain, if we can quickly restore partial power, we may be able to regain control of the ship's systems. However, it will take time to bring everything back online."
Kirk nodded. "Ensign Chekov, work with Mr. Spock to reroute power from auxiliary sources to essential systems. We need phasers and shields back up as soon as possible."
The crew members worked tirelessly in the darkness, their fingers flying across the control panels, trying to restore power while under the constant threat of another Klingon attack. Minutes felt like hours as the tension on the bridge grew with each passing second.
Suddenly, the ship's lights flickered back to life, and the bridge was bathed in their familiar glow. The hum of the ship's systems resumed, and the crew breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Kirk sat back in his chair, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Mr. Sulu, target the Klingon ship. Fire all phasers!"
The Enterprise unleashed a barrage of energy beams, cutting through the Klingon vessel's weakened shields. The enemy ship buckled under the assault, and explosions rocked its hull.
Within moments, the Klingon vessel disintegrated, leaving behind nothing but debris in its wake.
The bridge erupted in cheers and applause as the crew celebrated their hard-fought victory. Captain Kirk glanced around, his gaze falling on each of his dedicated officers. He felt an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for their unwavering commitment, even in the face of unexpected challenges.
"Today, we faced a power outage and still emerged victorious," Kirk announced, his voice filled with conviction. "Remember this day, my friends, for it is a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of Starfleet. And as long as we stand together, we will overcome any obstacle the galaxy throws at us."
The crew nodded in agreement, their spirits renewed. Despite the unexpected loadshedding, Captain Kirk and the Enterprise had once again proven their indomitable spirit and ability to succeed.

That is so sad.

How many other lives are lost due to loadshedding which we will never heard of?
One of the filler-jobs I had years ago was delivering oxygen tanks and systems to patients at home, have often wondered how they've been affected.

There were some battery operated units, but only for short trips to the shops etc. back then.

What's the bets for this weekend? 3/5 tomorrow, 1/4 Sunday?
Its is ice cold down here in Kaapstad so i think a lot more peoples will be having an indoor weekend with a heater so slight increase in power draw from the west...

They been running diesel hard so probably will need to restock.

The weather lady also stated last night potential snow around the middle of the country so coldish temps as well.

Maybe 3 in the day and 5 from 4pm onwards Sunday maybe 2 until like 12 with a bump to 4/5 in the afternoon
