poweralert stage 2.....

Something interesting I noticed this week with the 4/6 slots at 16:00

We've had loadshedding 13:00-15:00 on stage 4 this week and on stage 6 it would have been 13:00-17:00 on some days, so the power goes out from 13:00-15:00 and then again from 16:00- 17:00

So, instead of the neighbours turning off their generators at ~15:10 and back on at 16:00, they just keep running for the full 4 hours. 2 houses in the street does this.

I'm curious why they don't save some petrol, but I guess it's easier to just run the full ~4 hours and be done with it.

Maybe the petrol saved is minimal?

Definitely not right. If you add everything up before OCGTs they should have had about 30GW available against a load of 32GW.

Or could it be they have those cheap ones that you have to start manually with a pull cord? I had one a few years back. It was so much effort to start up I didn't bother many times.

A better schedule than I was anticipating however I think it shows that for some peculiar reason, we are being LS more than is required - at least when it is Stage 6.
