poweralert stage 2.....

Power alert indicates we should be on stage 2 at night and no stages during the day. But hey

Decided to go to a 8am gym class for the first time woke up at 7 and power was off..

6 to 8:30 slot and lets just say the gym class was not as fun with no AC :)

Lol someone at City Power has properly ****ed up, different parts of my street now fall into 3 different blocks xD It's not grouped clusters either

He mentioned this doesn't take into account 2000 MW being brought back online in December from Kusile and the 700 MW from Medupi in April. If all goes to plan for the ANC there wont be load shedding prior to the elections next year and they will probably end up claiming it as a victory, even though they were responsible for this mess in the first place.

May happen still, but with 1 maybe 2 slots a day?
Think it was still going on when we went back to no day LS, maybe when that originally started too?

But less likely now IMO as it's supposed to be a semi-emergency period again. (That despite the magical 2GW they just found...)

BTW, I've updated the Nersa OP to show the actual detail now, since the BusinessTech guy didn't bother in his thread. Here's a fresh linky: New Nersa proposed schedules (up to stage 16)

Yeah the % can make more sense as currently JHB is shedding more then the requirements as the blocks are so oddly done, but if they did it via percentage it could actually work out better.
But of course City Power wanted to sort out LS into more manageable blocks and 2 hour sessions again and Eskom said no

Percentages now - now they can fudge the numbers even more.

What is 80% of demand? 20GW overnight so stage 16 means they only have 4GW available.

They'll take fudging to new levels anyway, here at least better balance is possible.
Though it could mean Durbanites end up with more :whistling:

With percentages, now they can shed more without increasing the stages so on paper they only have loadshitting of lower stages:

Stage 1: 1150MW-1600MW
Stage 2: 2300MW-3200MW
Stage 3: 3450MW-4800MW
Stage 4: 4600MW-6400MW
Stage 5: 5750MW-8000MW
Stage 6: 6900MW-9600MW
