What was the original info? It should be moving to the next cycle tomorrow, if tomorrow was the 31st it would be the same as today, but it's due to the month end
The 1st was on the same cycle as today on Mydorpie, and no info was being given beyond tomorrow (they always list about a week ahead).
I only started looking at City Power info yesterday so they could have changed it already by then - they reflected what you explained and still do.

Mydorpie did send out an alert about this shortly before I posted, they called it an awaited schedule fix or something similar.

Just more confusion. Thanks for explaining the schedule though.

I'm convinced as well.
I mean, all those winter repairs and quite some stability compared - doesn't add up to this follow-up summer nonsense, especially how extensive and how long its been.

Fiction to back up the lie? How after all this time can they allow themselves to still run out of diesel... BS IMO
It happens when you burn diesel all day long as baseload because all the coal is broken instead of using them as peakers like they meant for for only during morning and evening peak:

You know you could just download load shedding notifier from the play store and not rely on mydorpie? So far load shedding notifier hasn't been wrong, or had that weird 3,4,3,4 bug ESP had.
You can also check the entire months schedule for your area.

Yep, that would be their explanation.
But why is all the coal broken? These repairs, as bad as they may be, have been going on for many, many years without such a very wide collapse.

Meanwhile we export coal for Europe's crisis..

Quite a few theories doing their rounds, all within credibility given the BS we're fed all too often.
  • European masters have spoken (and bribed)
  • Repairs that couldn't be slotted in have been forced in
  • Leftists who don't want any of us to have the comfort of power [insert one of a number of reasons doing their rounds] have spoken (and bribed)
  • etc.
Take your pick.
Personally, I can strongly smell something's wrong but not going there. Too many conservatives on this forum anyway, they only believe authority despite the abuses in this country.

Mydorpie has been great on the whole.

I'm anti-smartphone, had one before most but got rid of it.

Except you only know small fragments of what is happening? You could download the city power schedule and work out your time slots yourself, it never changes.

I've hesitated re relying on their direct info due to other errors on their website, I think you also found them unreliable before?

But yes, yesterday I did take snapshots of their whole October scheduling ;- )

Actually, Eskom's plan is to do more routine maintenance during summer because of the slightly lower demand compared to winter. The routine maintenance figure has increased a bit since the winter months so they are sticking to that plan.

The real issue is the unplanned outages which is consistently hanging around 15 000 MW.

Eskom explained in the past that catching up appeared impossible, one of the main reasons they consulted with world experts.
Some really believe this is the only solution possible and arrived at, do it anyway and of necessity hide those efforts, so would then be not unplanned.

But yes, it's only theories.

Only for this year, 2020 they were at 8k last year around 12k and actually around the start of the year it was around 12k as well.

Agreed.
But suddenly 10 times more than ever before??
Apartheid didn't build idiot proof power stations. We have 44GW of coal power. So there was a lot of spare capacity to cover us when stuff broke (EAF energy availability factor). Now they can barely keep 20GW going, so when anything else breaks, it tips us over the edge and we get loadshedding.

Last month coal was about where I've drawn the black line:

Well we've almost been in a month of shedding, so that seems like such a distant memory.

Still too much of a jump. (If there's) lies, would have to be covered up by false facts.

Think of all the unanswered questions you've come across as well, especially recently.

Something is very wrong. Did we all forget the mist and wet coal stories?

because there is no reserve, anything like mist etc will have an effect and tip us over the edge. You also get cascading effect with a whole bunch of units tripping because the load is too high compounding the effect.

It all stems from years of bad management/maintenance and now they are unable to hide the incompetence anymore.

Yet they can do enough to bring us back to stage 2 or better? Nah, stop trusting Eskom "facts".

When a unit trips, it takes at least a week to synchronise it back onto the grid so I would assume more coal generators are coming back. We can only look at the graphs that I post to see where we at, unfortunately, it's always a day or 2 behind.

Enough said, we can't have an organisation claiming sudden massive chaos due to cascading neglect yet able to recover as usual.
Who's to say they aren't the saboteurs either - get those units offline so we can get them repaired.

These characters are known bullshitters.
