It seems that they are doing it to municipalities who are up to date with payments as well. Whether that is normal or according to a payment plan previously agreed to.
You think so? Seems to be targeted towards the non-paying municipalities. No reports yet of CoCT customers getting their load reduced (touch wood).

Well according to the ekurhuleni letter posted earlier the municipality is up to date and eskom is doing whatever the hell they want.

We were supposed to have come back on at 14:00 and we're still off again.

Some have issued statements to say they are up to date or have paid in accordance to a payment plan.

I have no idea what the reasons are but it may also be that many of the failed units are what feed those municipalities. I don't believe all generation is connected to all provinces?

A communist government does not care who pays or not. I think they are just sparing the cities for now, but cities will also get this soon.

It sucks, but Eskom must make it clear that there is a no pay no service policy. The muni's that are worse affected will hopefully see a change in leadership to a party that is more accountable but if you live in an area where the voters keep on voting for ANC no matter how badly the ANC treats them, probably time to move.
If they're doing this because of non-payment then they're in violation of a court order to not prejudice paying customers in disputes between municipalities and Eskom.

Are these like the "loadshedding is well in hand and will be over by X" statements we have been hearing for the past decade? :D

I know this, but I sort of side with Eskom on this one. Sadly if you're under corrupt administrators you must get people to get their **** together and boot them out. If that doesn't work, then it's time to leave. Same if you live in a community where most people don't pay. Either people must pay, or you must leave. I know it's not that easy for most people, but what else do you expect Eskom to do? Just keep on providing free electricity, either because the money is being stolen or because the majority of people just don't want to pay?

Wonder why the demand is so high still

Sounds like a normal day in JHB lol. You are basically guaranteed a 14 to 20-hour session of loadshedding when you go off for the first slot after the restoration from the last 14 to 20-hour session. The infrastructure fell apart weeks ago...
Its a funny one

People with solar such as myself are used to having zero power cuts.

When loadshedding wasn't around I would happily run solar at day and batteries at night.

Now one has to protect against it and im actually keeping my batteries at 100% which means im using more eskom as opposed to when we didnt have loadshedding

I was going to go the gas generator route instead of solar for that reason, but now I'm going the plane ticket route :D
