So I'm curious, would it not be better to reduce LC and rather run more OCGTs? It would obviously cost Eskom more, but would be better for the economy, no?
Doubt it would make a difference. Most of the South African economy is SMMEs who are pretty squeezed at this point. The LC is probably cheaper in some twisted way

And we're leveling up over a weekend.

#LoadsheddingUpdate 06 May 2023: Due to the further breakdown of a generating units in the early hours of the morning, Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented at 05:00 this morning until 16:00 (previously Stage 3 loadshedding communicated). Eskom will publish a further update as soon as there are any significant changes.

Economy is not in their dictionary. They think their existence is for them and them only and all they know is make more breakdowns so that they can have an early retirement. Scamsters of first order with all legal protections.

Things can be fixed but if fixed what is in it for them? Let majority suffer and we will make moola is the key principle of all SOEs and Eskom is no exception.

All sitting at home making babies for grants will again empower them to rule them till eternity

Is this evening increased too? I see ESP is saying stage 5 but I'm pretty sure thats incorrect, Eskom has only announced that afternoon has increased from 3 to 4, not this evening from 4 to 5, as far as I can find anyway

That is correct, but Eskom's status message only goes up to 4PM today. I think ESP are assuming Stage 5 as yesterday's schedule showed it increasing by 1 stage from 4PM.

ESP says "assuming from here until official update" from 16:00 onwards.

If the ANCvnts don't fix the electricity problem and fast we will be on a greatly accelerated path towards Zimbabwe. Business cannot run on diesel and still survive.

We're supplied directly by Eskom and a while back they shifted our schedule by an hour so we're on odd hours... not sure how widespread the change was.

Anyway, haven't heard from the electricity minister for a bit, but seems he's back in action today:

Challenge somebody to haxx0r this meeting and play fart sounds.

If loadshedding continues at this level till 2024 half the economy will have died by then..

Things are bleak, at the current rate of breakdowns and delays in returning units to service, we should hit Stage 7 for a couple of days sometime next week (that's Stage 7 + LC)
