Yes, but burning diesel as base load is just digging Eskoms hole much quicker. Burn diesel at R4/kWh and sell it for R1.50. Great strategy for a company.
They aren't burning diesel as base load, they are burning it to keep up with the demand. Though technically if we went all "green" as people want us to do, we'd be burning more diesel than too as at peaks there is not that much renewables.

Those things should have been running on gas years ago. They trying to keep up with demand because 50% is broken.

They should've but gas isn't that cheap anymore either :-( considering that the UK relies a lot on it's CCTGs for their base load, would we end up the same?

Sure but why ignore the part that 50% is broken? Don’t we have our own gas in mossel bay?
Ask the guys using egoli gas how expensive it is?
