If you look at last years numbers its only really Christmas, new years and the puplic holidays that are 20000ish MW demand. The rest were still around 24-25000MW demand.

So how does one jump from stage 6 directly to stage 4.

So how ****ed are we next year? Stage 6 deep in December sounds like we're heading for Stage 8+ come Jan.

Well, demand might drop after 1000's of small businesses call it quits this December.

I honestly don't know how any business can survive 4 straight months of back to back load shedding.

It's simply not possible unless they've found an alternate source of power and that comes with its own set of costs and expenses to purchase, run and maintain.

I may be wrong here because who the hell can keep track of this anymore, and I'm too lazy to try and find it now. But if I remember correctly, their worst case scenario was 326 days of load shedding. I think the only days they predicted to be load shedding free were this week.

Yea I think they blew past the worst case a while back. But then all of Eskom's forecasts suffer from optimism bias

Its now the quietest time of year I would have thought for electricity consumption, yet we still get stage 6.
Cant see us ever getting back to stage 2 really...

I think it's safe to say we are in their worst case scenario and then some.

If I remember, the base case + 3000MW is about 16000 unplanned, which we have been experiencing for the past while but been experiencing far higher LS stages than 3...
