I compared the cost of solar in CPT to another city. I can confirm, CPT has a solar tax problem, and the difference can clearly be seen by just driving around and looking at roofs. Even though CPT has people with more money than the other city, I estimate uptake in CPT to be be about 10 times less!
What are you smoking? CPT doesn't have more people with more money, you do know we get paid much more up here in JHB? In fact WC used to only be the the 3rd highest contributer to the overall GDP with KZN beating it by 5%.
What CPT has is expensive property due to location and people can just afford it.

You do realize that they are not explicitly calling the "solar tariffs" "green tax"? You are falling for their word play. The other city had no concept of solar tariffs, in fact, the other city is subsidizing solar houses to pay lower per kwh than normal rates.
There is no subsidies in JHB, so what the freak are you on? Could you share with the rest of the class?

He's referring to "another city / the other city", never calls it JHB so probably somewhere else.

I never said there are subsidies in JHB. In the city I researched, the muni offers a cheaper price than the normal going rate. This is because they know they will make it up by feed-in. The feed-in price was also much better than CPT. In CPT this is the opposite in that prices are inflated as "solar tariffs". The oppressive solar policy of CoCT is enough for me to recommend not buying a house in the CoCT muni.

Could you share its name please?
I like that the people in PE is not as blind to reality as the people of CPT. Here you can see them spotting the socialist oppression. Ironically, the oppression in CPT is much worse, yet no-one complains it seems:

Mandela Bay roast new tariffs

Residents furious as household renewable energy charges increase

BY GUY ROGERS - 14 NOVEMBER 2022

Daylight robbery — that is how Nelson Mandela Bay residents who spent thousands on solar power systems, effectively taking the load off Eskom’s strained power grid, feel about the municipality’s decision to more than increase their tariffs.

The new tariff structure for household renewable energy has cast a shadow over the Bay’s pioneering system which allowed residents invested in solar power to offset their costs and help save the planet...

PE did have hyperinflation on the new "grid connection" tax. It is still much better than CPT to buy a solar system there.

Socialist oppression? Looks more like abusive capitalist opportunism to me.

BTW, why are you wearing a funny uniform now? :giggle:

Buying a solar system for your house is effectively the same as buying yourself out of a failed socialist energy system. Buying a solar system, and benefitting from it in a free manner, is 100% capitalist. Registration fees and solar tariffs is socialist interventions to prevent this.

Hmmmm...

The fact that they lean toward socialism doesn't make this, or them officially, socialists.
The fact that they are in bed, and bribed by socialist leftists does though, so you have a point.

That is a very accurate and scientific way to compare solar uptake between different locations. Very accruate I assume. I would actually think it is funny, but I suspect you are being serious.......

If your thesis is correct, maybe the reason is more simplistic than your conspiracy theory, let's see if you can figure it out.

Shame man, DA member? Did my eyes lie to me? I did not claim it was scientific, it was an observation. The solar tariffs and registration fees in CPT is scientifically provable though.

Please point us to the exact "registration fee" and "solar tarrifs" that are currently being charged that you are referring to.

Last time I checked, there is no fee to register a PV system (unless you want to feedback and get paid for it but this is optional / not compulsory).

The fixed fee for the prepaid meter has nothing to do with PV systems and is charged irrespective of whether you have such a system or not. In fact it was I introduced long before the surge in the uptake of PV systems.

You seem to be bending facts to suite your argument and ignoring other facts to add even more gredence. Your are blind to your extreme bias.

As usual you have absolutely no ****ing idea what you are talking about.

There is no solar tax.

The uptake is simply less because it’s less necessary due to them offering better power delivery and less load shedding.

Also love how you cloak and dagger this other city you supposedly compared it to, always half truths.

Go and research the solar tariffs CPT vs PE yourself. Take a good look, there are no solar tariffs in PE. There is only a cheaper price per kwh. Read it and weep.

They do not exist.

Nonsense, CPT is suffering due to LS. When those higher stages hit, they don`t have enough grid power to pump water up to Steenbras, and then when most needed, there is no benefit at all.

Go do some basic research then.

No no, you come show us you are making the claim.

I actually have solar in Cape Town and I pay no tariffs.

You are just making **** up as you go.

There is also no registration fee.

You’ve made these claims many many times how but you are yet to provide evidence for your **** talking.
