Wonder how much diesel they have left, gotta be less than 1/2 at this point
Pretty much doubt they will actually run out of diesel since PETRO SA is another SOE, so supplying diesel to Eskom enriches ANC cadres. They might be minimising diesel usage, but that's different to physically run out of it.

Shocked? with?
I sprayed my coffee everywhere hahaha

Can you even imagine what 6,000,000 litres of diesel looks like. I'm staring at my 20l jerry can and just trying to imagine

Edit: The answer is 300,000 twenty liter jerries.
I actually have a more technical question, how the hell do they move 6000000 litres of diesel without a very extensive pipeline network, or do we actually have one of those? I know transnet runs a pipeline but I was under the impression it was as dysfunctional as everything else?

I can't imagine it's anything but a pipeline. 6 million litres is something like 140 fuel trucks if I'm not mistaken.

That's 144km worth of standard jerry cans laid end to end.
Or you know... 150 tanker trucks.

Or 1/10th this ship just passing Cape town now...

Someone check my workings :)
81,000 tonnes capacity
81,000,000 kg
Diesel is 0.84 kg/L
So let's say 96,000,000L capacity...

I honestly think they are going "short term pain for long term gain". Basically keep us at stage 6 for as long as is tolerable to do more advanced repairs, rather than putting a band aid on it. At least, I hope that's the case...
Used to think this as well... I'm a realistic optimist... but here, we have to be more realistic than optimistic.

We're unfortunately losing this battle at the moment, praying things change, some how. Just hoping the ANC takes a whipping in the next elections and we can finally get some form of accountability.
