Once again our power didn't come back after 08:00 - 12:00 slot. So in the past 14 hours we've had a total of 2 hours of power. Each time the power goes off our power comes back an hour or two before the next loadshedding slot starts. Double loadshedding for us. FFS! And its 40°C.
 
An update: Power just came back 1h30 min ago. 1 hour to go till the next loadshedding slot.

Seems like ESKOM's substation can't switch back on automatically. The substation is in the middle of nowhere near the N1 and now an employee has to drive to the substation to flip a manual switch. This takes them 2 hours to do. So we get a double dose of loadshedding. Instead of 10 hours we get 16 hours.

Best of all the power only returns for an hour or 2 hours (if we are lucky) before the next slot hits. So you can't even charge your devices fully. I'm so done.

It's an issue with the SCADA systems in a lot of the JHB substations. City power keeps telling us their systems go down during stage 6. I'm guessing batteries don't last for the 4 hour slots, so people actually have to go flip switches.

ESKOM showed mercy and per arrangement with the Municipality we skipped the 16:00 - 18:00 slot. Next slot at midnight.

Damn that's rubbish. CoCT, which is usually quite on time with the stages, messed up slightly today as it didn't come on at the correct time. Just phoned the call centre and electricity came back on within 5 minutes.

It would depend on corporate SA coming together for the greater good, which will never happen if there's a possibility of losing money...

when we get hit with outages we can usually whatsapp citypower and ask them not to load shed our zone

That’s nice about a mi th or so back the transformers here in ramsgate we’re blowing left right and centre. I asked one of the techies about a reprieve. He said they already tried but eskom just said tough

yeah there have been times where eskom also just shuts off the power feeding that substation and they can't do anything. kinda crazy what a whole clusterf*ck this thing is

Yet Ethekweni has been getting a reprieve for almost a year now.
