Until tonight our area was relatively quiet in loadshedding. Tonight however our neighbours got one of the noisiest generators :(

I can't even be upset at them, but I am definitely not enjoying the noise.

No difference between stage 4 and 6 for us tomorrow.

6:00 to 8:00
14:00 to 18:00
22:00 to 0:00

Today the '4 hour session' lasted from 7:15 to 15:25. Just in time for the 16:00 to 18:00 session to start.

Holding thumbs it comes back at 18:00.
Alberton's infrastructure is beyond ****ed.

Stage 4 won't last long. Stage 8 or bust, baby!

My municipality (Umngeni) is exploring alternatives as well. We don't even have a large city

The mayor is pissed at Nersa and Eskom and is going full Boer maak 'n plan mode. Might even cut Eskom off entirely...

Your mayor is doing really great things there. I hope he keeps up the energy throughout his term.

When looking at Eskom's EAF; that trend is not stopping; we ar close to 50% now and will possibly be under that, by the end of the year.

Now where have I heard this before?
“Eventually in the next 12-18 months, we will be able to say load shedding is a thing of the past. That is the target,” Godongwana, told Reuters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss resort of Davos on Monday.

But Eskom said in their press statement yesterday that OCGTs - Eskom + IPP - adds 5.7GW to the grid. It looks like they were using almost all OCGTs there.
Eskom has 20 OCTGs + 6 IPP OCTGs
Eskoms is 3GW (roughly 150MW per OCTG) and the IPPs are only 1000MW (160ish) so not sure where they got 5.7GW, unless they refer to the other IPPs.
So that was only 3GW added by OCTGs it was the buffer. The problem now is we're not even able to get close to demand.

I think Eskom needs to keep one eye on Ukraine to see how they sort out their power woes. Zelensky mentioned something about mini power stations being key to bringing the country back online?

No money regardless

We do consume close to them in Electrical standards they average out at 180TWh and we're at 220TWh or were at 220TWh

He's trolling us. They all are.
Lol, it's basically the same statement reworded slightly. They're not even trying anymore.

“In another 18 months to two years, you will forget the challenges that we had with relation to power and energy and Eskom ever happened.” Cyril Ramaphosa, 2 September 2015

“Eventually in the next 12-18 months, we will be able to say load shedding is a thing of the past. That is the target,” Godongwana, 2023
