Probably around 3000MW will be comprised of less planned maintenance. Now to just find another missing 2000MW!
Eskom and the government seem to be pushing for those three Kusile plants to come online ASAP which would be 2100MW [not that I have much hope they will come online before peak winter in June/July]...perhaps the SoD can help in that respect i.e. not have to go through all the processes etc. to get their band-aid solution approved?
Wind even in good areas seems expensive and messy. I prefer Karoo solar as best for what must go this way.@Brian_G - quietly positive about the transmission issue getting attention. Western Cape and Eastern Cape are where the wind is best - unfortunately, no wind projects were successful in the latest round of IPP bids due to the transmission issue.
