Well, nothing has really changed except a low demand (5000MW less) long weekend allowing stages to be dropped.

Just wait for the first real cold front on a work day, then you'll see the real weeeeeeee.

Winter is coming.
Ohhhhh, I know. Stage 8 first cold week guaranteed. I'm waiting for some deals to close in the coming months, and then I'm out of here for winter as my stupid solar system still doesn't have an ETA.

Now @TheChamp is all quiet as his praise-singing of interim CEO Cassim looks silly.
Why, what happened? Don't tell me the right wing cartel sabotaged the power stations again? lowlifes just cannot deal with the fact that Cassim is better than their sophisticated device discoverer, dodgy concoction drinker, the real anointed saviour of Eskom.

Seems there's a bit of a surplus here tonight

Price per kwh on my meter

those that are in charge of the corruption had their fill of food and drink and their never-ending lust for money has awoken and with it stage 5 load shedding. All the cable thieves and Burglars rejoiced upon the announcement as the public once again must face dead traffic lights that no one respects and heavy trucks crashing into families killing people because traffic lights are not as important as providing power to the government's elite.

I'm on time of day pricing for electricity, changes every half hour.
From 1 to 1:30 tomorrow morning I get paid 5p per kwh I use.
How does one keep track of that? So they pay you to charge your batteries if you had some automation? What's the catch?

No catch
Yes they would pay to charge my batteries if i had any :/
Can all be automated as all that info is available via their api

It's quite weird that it jumps around like there is a surplus at 1am but not at 1:30 and another surplus at 2:30 but not at 3am, then another suplus at 3:30. Does this happen during the day?

How much did they charge you for your meter? R15k like greedy CoCT? How many leccy companies are there in your area?

Wouldn't a battery pay for itself chop chop if they pay you to charge it, then use the battery instead of the grid?

Standard smart meter, came with the house.

No idea why it ping pongs around like that, something to do with the speed of spinning up generators perhaps? Numbers do bounce around all day as well, but they generally hit the cap during peak times and don't drop much until the early hours.

This is only the second time I've seen negative numbers since I got on the agile tariff.

Battery would indeed pay for itself, as there are guaranteed low tariff periods at night on less agile tariffs, like 10p/kwh from 12 till 5am, so you can charge up then and run on batteries during the more expensive hours.

There's 6 big electric companies. There were more but many went bust during the energy crisis

You'd think with half of Pretoria not having any power, stage 5 could be avoided
I was thinking the same thing. I think Eskom has become so accustomed to its own truths it can't distinguish between reality and fantasy.

They can't really base the nationwide stages on half a city, even if they could it could be anywhere from half a stage to a full stage, they also cannot base it on that due to it could come back any time.

Fair enough, but we are still getting double load shedding that pushes us over 12 hours of load shedding for today. I cannot imagine how bad it is going to get once we see stage 8 or higher. I doubt we will be provided power at all.

It's also not that much. Each stage in JHB (Under City Power at least) is only 100MW being shed for instance.
