These smart meter things, maybe Eishkom can do all of us a favour and install these in Soweto first?
No ANC MEMBA or voter will get anything to ruin their SABC soapies in the evening!

Got to keep the ANC supporters happy ay, a bucket of KFC a free tshirt and little to no loadshedding!

Oh and a SASSA pension

Why can't we have time of use meters like the rest of the world?

I can promise you that Eskom will stop burning diesel by 90% when this happens.

Why don't they enforce businesses from turning off their lights or leave it to minimum, why have car showrooms fully lit, or empty offices with lights burning? Remember residents use 20% of the power so out of the 29k residents are using 6k

It's also for security. Ne'er-do-wells just love dark places.

Why don't they enforce peak and off peak energy rates and feed in tariffs and let the businesses make up their own minds and leave businesses alone that pay for it? Anyway, it's not like lighting is a big energy guzzler, it accounts for about 5% of my usage.

Understandable, but outside lights, motion sensored? Or other things, having your bright showroom using more power then 10 houses is not helping.

Their lighting would be, I mean they look like they aren't energy efficient lights. Remember back in the day lighting was a big consumer.

Had the 08h00 to 10h30 slot. Power on at 10h15. Rejoiced and plugged everything in. Power off again @10h36. Something broke.

Back in the day. How many times has business had to tighten their belts since 2007?

Most of the commercial and industrial customers are on Time of Use & seasonal tariffs already.
