No it would be stage 7, the total is there with LC and LSSo without load curtailment we would have been on stage 9.
Have we ever had such a large shortfall before?

Muppets with inverters and not enough solarThe more they shed, the higher the demand actually becomes.
Stabilizes by magic? There is a solution, lockdown again until grid stablises, I mean hell are you telling me Loadshedding isn't more brutal then lockdowns.
Partially, plus cooking, washing and other things shift to when you have power.Muppets with inverters and not enough solar
Depends what your definition of stage 7 is. We all know we're permanently on stage 8 by the old definition. No it would be stage 7, the total is there with LC and LS
Generator.Partially, plus cooking, washing and other things shift to when you have power.
Yes any greater technology that we have compared to others will seem a lot like magicStabilizes by magic?

I always thought this as well. For domestic loads load shedding is probably only effectve at actually reducing usage from miniscule things like tv, wifi and lights. All the other heavy loads like geysers, fridges, cooking, boiling water, washing/drying, etc still happens but just gets shifted to a different time. I can attest to this because i find myself doing weird stuff like setting an alarm to dry clothes at 2am now. Then take into account all the little batteries, all the bigger batteries, the people cooking, washing, ironing or whatever they would've done at normal times, you shift the load. 2 hours every 6 hours sort of breaks even, 4 hours every 4 hours and you start seeing things happening at odd times.
Not everyone has a generatorGenerator.
I thought industry uses most power. Isn't this "peak" they refer to rather just household peak, and made to be important to justify less use of diesel?Earlier hours of the evening is peak
More people should get them. Not everyone has a generator
You're not the only one doing it, load shedding for residential areas has a diminishing returns as we shift the load.I always thought this as well. Industry uses the most load overall, but peaks kick in when people get home and start cooking, same as the first peak is when people get up to make coffee. Oddly enough these peaks did also drop during lockdowns. After 9pm it drops all the way back down to just the normal load + industry.I thought industry uses most power. Isn't this "peak" they refer to rather just household peak, and made to be important to justify less use of diesel?
Muppet here pulling a nice flat 2 KW, the moment Eskom come online for about 30 mins after every slot to recharge my batteries.Muppets with inverters and not enough solar
Correct. This is what is so stupid about the current situation. The peak will get even bigger if it goes beyond Stage 6.I always thought this as well. And with the LS you've not seen your electrical bill go down?Muppet here pulling a nice flat 2 KW, the moment Eskom come online for about 30 mins after every slot to recharge my batteries.Happy to contribute.
Anyone using a tumble dryer in sa should be strung up by the balls. It is a completely unnecessary appliance in this country.I always thought this as well. Shortfall is 8205 MW. Without LC it would be stage 9 load shedding. No it would be stage 7, the total is there with LC and LS
