They don't actually use it as much as you think, some days they only burn it during peak.
But generally what would make more sense is stage 4 from midnight to 4pm,that makes more sense then this till 5am. Cause 5am is actually morning peak anyway

In the "32 hours" article;

A document titled “voluntary” NRS048-9 edition 3, which would in unforeseen emergency circumstances allow Eskom to implement drastic load shedding beyond stage 8, is currently being finalised by the National Regulatory Services Association of SA, a voluntary association assisting with regulating load shedding.

Confirming the document, Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said its guidelines would be implemented only if there were emergencies threatening to collapse the grid, something that might be possible during winter.

So just safety preparations, mostly hot air, more press BS...

Just take a look at the power alert numbers we can have 5GW over demand, but we still shed. This is from midnight

Pity this thread will swell in size before enough peeps see these newly discussed facts.
And some will forget by tomorrow and believe some of it again.

Anyway, we're only human..

Ahhh... My favourite ranting grounds. 2 rainy days forcasted for Gangsters Paradise. Whoop! Will have to charge the batteries using what's left of Eskom.

Power went off as expected @ 2:00 am this morning, back on @ 2:10 :oops:

No similar posts so presuming it was just us this time, who knows why

My power went off at ten, looking at cameras it came back shortly afterwards, so my ten to 2 was ten to 2 minutes to 11

Oh, oh..... Jo'burg flexing its muscles again maybe? ;- )
Who knows, as it went off for the 6 to 8am slot, so yesterday I actually only had 4 hours off instead of the 9.5 we were supposed to. Wtf is going on here

This morning was a bit weird (zone 11 in CT), with power off from 4am to 5am (stage 6), then on from 5am to 6am (stage 3), then off from 6am to 8am (stage 3).

Perhaps a harbinger of things to come, when stages 7-9 are imposed for short periods, before dropping back to lower stages at other times.

It looks like load shedding was suspended overnight for a brief period?
We were supposed to go off at 4am, but only went off at 5am. When I checked loadshedding.eskom.co.za at 04h45 it showed "no loadshedding". After we went off at 5am I checked again and it showed "Stage 4 loadshedding".
