Powering an external drive via USB?

I have a 2.5" external drive that I'd like to plug into my home theatre but my receiver's USB port doesn't put out enough juice to power the drive.

So, my plan is to bridge the two with a powered USB hub, but I'm not sure how much power would be required from it to do the trick.

Any ideas?

The two hubs I'm considering are this D-Link one and this Transcend one, but I'm not sure if either is suited to the task?

You get the split usb cable, 2 usb's to 1 mini usb. Not sure who will stock it thou.
